Glenton Gilzeon Outdoes himself

Glenton Gilzeon Outdoes himself

Oh look who's back making our week in the A.A. barracks!

You may recall that Glenton Gilzean, the District Administrator of the Central Florida Tourism and Oversight Committee (https://abigailsarmy.com/writing/2023/8/16/any-port-in-a-storm-disney-diversity-and-the-central-florida-tourism-district) is the Governor-appointed recipient of a $400,000-a-year job who’s description is pretty much “Punish Disney for having said that it's bad to persecute gay people.”

What you may not know is that Gilzean also happens to be the head of the Florida State Ethics Commission.

Let that word roll off your tongue a few times... "ethics."

One thing you might suspect about a position as an ethics watchdog is that you would not want said watchdog to be in a job that the watchdog is supposed to be, you know, watching: like any sort of government employee, perhaps. Like an Governor-appointed administrator of a special district, maybe?

Well, it turns out that the Florida State Ethics Comittee has a rule that says exactly that, quite clearly. “No member may hold any public employment, " it says. And if there is an ethics violation; who does that get reported to?

You're way ahead of me.

So, it is actually not only against the law for Gilzean to hold both positions, but also worth noting that the head of ethics in Florida has committed an ethics violation that must be reported to the ethics committee that the ethics head heads.

$400,000-a-year makes you do funny things with your principles, huh, Glenton?
